ONYX Pacific Northwest is looking for 10 new members to engage with us in our Pledge Process. Over the next six months, you’ll begin a journey of Fellowship, Agency, and Growth.

Full Membership is open to individuals who
Identify as gay, bisexual, and/or trans men of color, (inclusive of their gender expression or pronouns) and have a genuine interest in leather, kink, and BDSM.
Align with ONYX Pacific Northwest’s mission and values of mutual respect, education, and community engagement.
Are comfortable being part of a fraternal organization, where members refer to each other as “brothers” or “siblings” as the default form of address.
Complete the membership process, including the pledge cycle during pledge years.
Application and Interview Process
Phase 1
Application Submission
Once you submit your application, the Pledge Committee reviews it to see if you’re a strong fit for ONYX Pacific Northwest’s mission and our membership requirements.
Applications open September 1st. Applications close October 31st.
Phase 2
Preparing for Interviews
Once all the applications are received, the Pledgemaster and Pledge Committee will review them. If your application moves forward, you’ll be invited to interview.
Applications will be reviewed from November through December.
Phase 3
Interviewing with ONYX Pacific Northwest
Your interview is a 30-minute conversation with a panel that may include the Pledgemaster, Executive Board members, other members in good standing, and your sponsor. They’ll ask you the questions sent in advance, and you’ll have a chance to ask your own at the end.
Interviews will take place in the beginning of January
Phase 4
Invitation to Pledge
After all interviews are complete, the panel discusses and finalizes scores, and the Executive Board does a final review. Final decisions are based on your application, your interview, and panel discussion.
Pledge invitations will be sent out mid January

Are you accepting Associate applications?
For the 2027 pledge class, we are accepting applications for Full Members. At this time, we are focusing our chapter expansion on full membership and representation of our core communities. ONYX Pacific Northwest will be opening up opportunities for Associate membership at a later time. Potential Associate members are encouraged to attend our bar nights and various community events.
I don’t live in Seattle or Portland, can I still pledge?
Yes! ONYX Pacific Northwest membership is open to residents of Washington and Oregon. During the pledge process, the majority of classes will be in virtual (with the exception of 2 in person classes). There are also a variety of in person events and transportation assistance is available for selected pledges.
Prospects are encouraged to get to know current membership as well, all of whom are available via Zoom for meet and greets with the pledge class.
I’m a member from another chapter, do I have to do the pledge process?
Nope! You will not have to go through the pledge process again. If you are a Full or Associate from another chapter, please reach out directly to the chapter Vice President directly to discuss the transfer process.

How do I become a pledge?
Please review the application and interview process. Applications will open on September 1 and will close on October 31.
In order to apply, you will need familiarity with the current mission of ONYX PNW, interest and desire to be a member of the local BDSM and leather scene, a sponsor from the current ONYX PNW membership and you will need to attend at least one in person or virtual meet and greet.
